[ Clover is nothing, if not prompt. She shows up at the location Cain provided when she said she would. Even if she's not used to her new skills, it's still an unfair advantage she has. When the girl in her memories can decimate an entire squad of soldiers with her fists and feet, the odds are in her favor.
This spar was stacked against Cain, but he insisted, and she didn't want him going after her friends. That's why they're here. After a warm up, she starts getting serious.
[Cain never stood a chance. One minute he had been confident and cocky that he could take down Clover without a sweat. The next minute had been a blur of confusion as Clover far surpassed his expectations.
Of course he loses, how could he have ever stood a chance?
He doesn't know how he feels. Pissed? Surprised? Scared? Turned on? Alive? He lets out a soft grunt as he stands up to roll his shoulder.]
Fucking hell, Clover... [Though his face betrays his tone as he tries to hide his smile.] You didn't fucking tell me you were a god damn maverick.
[ At least he's taking it in as much stride as Cain takes things in stride, she thinks. ]
I told you you'd be in for a surprise. The person in my memories is... quite powerful, and I'm still not as good as she is.
[ She's a bit torn about accepting her new Retrospec-given abilities, but if it'll keep someone she knows from getting into too much trouble, she'll accept them. ]
That doesn't matter as much as... did that help scratch your itch to fight?
[He's definitely taking it pretty well for someone as hotheaded and egoistic as Cain. Whereas similar fighters may have groaned and moaned about not being on their game or going easy on their opponent, Cain wholesomely accepts his defeat. With a smile even!]
Yeah it scratched that itch alright, Clover. [Cain rubs at his jaw, offering Clover a smirk.] How long were ya plannin' on hidin this from me? Cause do you know how fuckin' hot you looked kickin' my ass?
[ Clover coughs and looks away. She's not blushing, but she is a little flustered. She's not sure how she feels about this particular compliment. She doesn't want to be violent, but for some reason, it's helping Cain. ]
It's very new. A month ago, you would have beaten me without breaking a sweat.
Maybe. You gotta give yourself more credit than that, Clover.
[It is helping him in a lot of ways. To be a better person (slowly), to release that pent up stress (surely), and to do something destructive in a constructive way (sort of?) to name a few.]
